The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was started in the year 2009 with an intake of 120. The department is full-fledged with highly Qualified and well experienced faculty to meet its vision and mission. It is committed to provide quality education and produce competent engineers to meet with the growing demand for professionals in IT industry and telecommunication, and offers Training, on entrepreneurial and personality practical development programmes. The department has a very good placement record and our students have got placed in leading companies like CTS, HCL, etc. The Department has organized regular SDPs, Seminars and Conference in association with government funding agencies like AICTE, CSIR etc.
The infrastructure in the laboratory is as per norms of the Pondicherry University. Students get a wide exposure and practical hands on training in the sophisticated equipment's during their lab sessions. The CSE department has the following laboratories to cover all the experiment.
DATABASE MANAGEMENT LAB
This lab aims at providing students with knowledge about the Database Environment. Students are made familiar with Oracle, My SQL Software and Visual Basic. DBMS laboratory is well equipped with the latest Machines, Fully Networked and attached to the The Oracle Software and .NET is available for all the computers The students engage themselves in getting practiced with Laboratory experiments in their laboratory hours. The lab is used to train the students to improve their programming knowledge and make experiments to get familiar with the B.Tech Courses.
OPERATING SYSTEM LAB
This lab complements the Operating System Course. Students are made familiar with Open Source Technologies, access to both offline and online Internet services. The Operating System laboratory is spacious and well equipped with the latest Machines. Linux Lab functions are attached to the Linux Server, which is configured with RAID Level 1. Java, C and C++ compilers are configured in all the clients, Guidance is provided to the students by a team of faculties and lab instructors. The lab is used to train the students to enrich their programming knowledge and make experiments to get familiar with the Linux operating Systems Courses.
The Computer Science and Engineering Department is associated with professional bodies like CSI & ISTE. The faculty members of this community seek to establish, maintain and advance a broad understanding of Computer Science in order to fulfil students' academic and professional goals.
COMPUTER NETWORKS LAB
Computer Network Laboratory is mainly used by Third Year Computer Engineering students. The intention is to learn fundamental concepts related to explore areas like data communication, wireless networks and other networking concepts. Students also learn about digital signal processing applications. The students are involved in performing assignments, practical hands on sessions, case studies related to the mentioned concepts. Apart from computer systems, the laboratory resources that are with various networking components (Active & Passive), training kits etc. Experience of the students is enriched on various aspects like structured cabling, building a small network, voice over IP, Security,data communication etc. in this laboratory.
WEB TECHNOLOGY LAB
Web development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a web site for the Internet (World Wide Web) or an intranet (a private network). It can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, and social network services. A more comprehensive list of web development commonly includes web engineering, web design, web content development, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development. Among web professionals, "web development" usually refers to the main non-design aspects of building web sites: writing markup and coding.
The Project Laboratory has a key role in promoting practical and hands-on education throughout the undergraduate careers of Computer Science Engineering students. Students can apply their knowledge of theory to improve their skills on the design, analysis, implementation, and experimentation of new algorithms and software. Our goal is to provide a state-of-the-art environment where students become proficient at both the physical and the creative skills needed in the workforce.
